Oh, The Irony Of It All

A hearing entitled "Climate Change:  Are Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Human Activities Contributing to a Warming of the Planet, " scheduled to be heard by the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality this morning, had to be postponed due to inclement weather.

Kind of like when Al Gore went to New York and gave a speech on global warming on the coldest day of the year.

Kind of like when a group set out to explore the effects of global warming on polar bears and had to cancel the trip due to cold weather.

Meanwhile, America's deep freeze continues.  The weather report for D.C. was freezing rain in the morning, ice accumulation, and a temperature in the mid-30's.  A Nor'easter is creating blizzard conditions from the Poconos to New England.  A foot of snow is forecast from Northern Pennsylvania to Maine, with more than 18" forecast from the western Catskill Mountains into Maine.  Travel along the I-95 corridor from Boston to D.C. is being complicated by a mix of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and just regular rain, with black ice predicted for this evening.

Springfield, Illinois, got 11" of snow, the 4th greatest 24-hour snowfall in its history.  Some places in upstate New York are buried under 11'.  Heavy snow brought down trees and power lines in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

The irony of this is not lost on those of us who are able to think for ourselves and don't fall for every trend that comes along.

Global warming will cease to be a threat once the pompous jerks with all the perks realize that they don't want to live in third-world conditions, which is where all this hysteria is taking us.
