The Stupidest Thing I've Heard In A Long While

The Lakota Indians have withdrawn from treaties with the United States. Apparently, they are now their own sovereign nation. Really, where are they located? How is it going to work having a sovereign nation within parts of states that are within another sovereign nation? How do those states feel about this?

Russell Means claimed that the time was right because all of their “ducks were in a row.” Really.

If they're going to be their own nation, no more nothing from Uncle Sam, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, disaster relief, military, firefighting services, police, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. No coming into the United States to do their shopping, see their doctor, buy a car, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. No sir.  Either they're a sovereign nation or they're not.  If they are, they’re going to have to get these things for themselves. So, how are they going to do that?

Residents can live there tax-free, as long as they renounce their U.S. citizenship. Since people can’t just walk around doing whatever they please, laws are going to have to be put into place. How are they going to pay for all the bureaucracies that are going to have to be set up, not only to enact and enforce these laws, but also to deal with other foreign countries? How are they going to pay the salaries of their elected officials? How are they going to maintain their infrastructure? They’ll have to have their own currency and something on which to base it. What is going to be the engine of their economy?  Casinos?

All their ducks in a row, indeed.
