"Clinton Struggling With Her Likability Problem" screamed a headline from earlier this week. A NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found that 48% of democrats view her in a negative manner versus 37% in a positive manner. The numbers in a Quinnipiac University poll were 47% negative to 46% positive. And, the numbers in a Public Policy Institute of California poll were 52% negative to 45% positive. A USA Today/Gallup poll found that 53% did not consider her honest and trustworthy versus 44% who did.
A Pew poll found that a majority of democrats think she is "phony" and "hard to like" and that what democrats most dislike about her are her personality, her baggage, and her ambition. Well, doesn't that sum things up.
There are those of us out here who believe that Hillary Clinton has been angling for the White House pretty much her whole adult life, using those who can help here, tossing aside those who can't, and trampling on anyone in her way. We think that's why she married Bill and why she stays with him, even going so far as to enable his serial philandering.*
Bill Clinton has called her the smartest woman in the world, so has Rush Limbaugh. So, why does it seem that it has never occurred to her that it was important to get people to like her? To trust her? To believe her? Has it really never occurred to her that people would be put off by her arrogance and belief that the nomination was hers for the asking? Doesn't she understand that it's not a good idea to make up stories, especially when you know that people already view you as dishonest?
No one controls his/her own destiny. We contribute, we grease the wheels but in the end, each person's destiny hinges on the destinies of others. Hillary's ruthless ambition alone will not get her to the White House, she must get the votes of millions of people. It's impossible not to know this. So why, despite poll after poll, does she continue to behave in a manner that turns people off?
. . . AS THOSE WHO WILL NOT SEE.

* I am of the opinion that she didn't care a whit about Monica or any other woman Bill abused or misused through the years. I believe that her only concern was what would happen if he got caught. As well she should. If the democrats hadn't been so intent on keeping one of their own in the White House after 12 long years in the wilderness, Bill Clinton could have been bounced in 1999 and that would have been an end to Hillary's political dreams.
