What A Revoltin' Development

I just heard that the latest polls show the following:

If Hillary Clinton is the nominee, 35% of Obama supporters will either vote for McCain or stay home.

If Barack Obama is the nominee, 44% of Clinton supporters will either vote for McCain or stay home.

It was not stated how much of that 35% is the black vote.  That's important because I believe that if Hillary somehow wrangles the nomination from Obama, the black vote will be lost.  I do not believe for one second that it will go to McCain, although I do believe that some of it will go to Hillary.  Can democrats win without this bloc?

I'm having a real hard time with the 44% figure.  I simply cannot believe that nearly half of Hillary's supporters will desert the democrat party if Obama is the nominee.  That would be suicide.

A poll is only a snapshot of the moment in which it was taken, but democrats might want to start getting worried.  The longer this thing goes, the uglier it is going to get.  And I, for one, do not expect either of these two to go quietly into that good night.
