I predict that the removal of 416 children from the compound of a fundamentalist polygamous cult in Texas will create shockwaves in this country for some time to come.
DNA tests are going to have to be conducted on everyone because no one knows who's related to who. According to the testimony of a state child welfare investigator, the cult indulges in the practice of taking one man's "wives and children" and "reassigning" them to another man. At least five girls under the age of 18 are currently pregnant or already have children. And, some of the "women" who have given birth at the compound have been as young as 13. Investigators believe there was a pattern of underage girls given in "marriage" to older men.
We saw the interview of three women who appeared to be nothing more than brainwashed zombies defend these practices. At the court hearing yesterday, "dozens of mothers sat timidly in their long cotten dresses, long underwear even in the spring heat, and braided upswept hair."
What we have here are allegations of slavery. Men with harems. Women and children being passed from man to man. Middle-aged men having sex with little girls.
So, where are the feminists? Where is the outrage that sexual slavery might very well be flourishing right here in America under the guise of freedom of religion? Shouldn't the movement be standing up for women who are being treated as nothing more than possessions and little girls who are being treated like sex toys?
Where are the feminists?
