It was recently reported that when the North Carolina newspaper The News & Observer was going to run with the Edwards' sex scandal, he personally requested that it not do so. The reason: "My wife has cancer . . .".
The fact that his wife had cancer didn't stop him from cheating on her. But, he blithely used his cancer-stricken wife in an effort to stop people from reporting on his behavior. In other words, Edwards expected others to be more respectful of his wife than he had been.
Just when you thought your opinion of him couldn't get any lower.
