BO is scheduled to give the commencement address at Arizona State University on May 13, but he will not be given an honorary degree. When asked why, an ASU spokeswoman said: "It's our practice to recognize an indiviual for his body of work, somebody who's been in their position for a long time. His body of work is yet to come. That's why we're not recognizing him with a degree at the beginning of his presidency." She also said, "It's someone who's really outstanding, who has made outstanding contributions in their field".
It's heartening to see that not everybody has lost their mind, that some people recognize the fact that constantly promoting yourself and running for higher office, while doing nothing in the office you currently hold, is not an accomplishment.
Of course, now that he's achieved a great "miliary victory" by resolving the four dudes in a towed dinghy incident, maybe ASU will want to reconsider.
