A Wise Man Once Said . . .

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.  Liberals do not heed this advice.  Witness Nancy Pelosi and her ever-changing "what I knew and when I knew it" yammerings.  Even those who like her are laughing behind her back.

I not only read articles on-line, I read the comments that are posted at the end.  It is in these comments that I get a sense of the people out there.  This is a comment from an article in the New York Times:

"Miss Carrie Prejean is a racist and has no business representing California and the people of the U.S. as Miss USA.  Her values and morals are twisted, distorted and an abomination to what the good honest people of America stand for.  Theocracy is the dangerous path that the likes of her and a very small minority of ignorant right wing dark ages bigots and racist (sic) would like to establish as the rule of law.  They need to be stopped!  The United States was not founded on Jedeo (sic) Christian values.  This is the big fat lie the right wing is pushing and promoting at the present time.  Our great founding fathers based our roots in Freedom of Religion and that also means Freedom from Religion as well so people can practice their beliefs openly and freely, without fear of persecution . . ."

This is liberal hypocrisy and intolerance in all its glory.

Miss Prejean said that she believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman.  But for saying so, this ignorant dunce called her a "racist".  He said that she "has no business representing California and the people of the U.S. as Miss USA".  He said that her "values and morals are twisted, distorted and an abomination".  It is now an "abomination" to believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman?  Christian values and morals are now "twisted" and "distorted"?

David Axelrod was a guest recently on the National Public Radio game show "Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me".  The host is Peter Sagal who called Mr. Axelrod "the moustache behind the throne" and "Rasputin in this magic kingdom".  The show's panel consisted of comics Mo Rocca and Paula Poundstone.  (Don't be ashamed if you haven't heard of any of these people.)

In what is supposed to pass for humor, Mr. Axelrod commented on his part in the Obamas choosing their new dog.  He said that he "only got called in for the final three" and one of the two runner-ups "was Miss California".  Can you imagine the hue and cry if Karl Rove had said such a thing!

So, a woman who chose to honestly express her opinion, in a country supposedly founded on the right to practice "beliefs openly and freely without fear of persecution", has been called a racist and a dog and has no right whatsoever to be Miss California or Miss USA, at least according to the oh so tolerant Left.  Perhaps future pageants should say "No Christians Allowed".

For the Left, the First Amendment will always be about freedom from religion, not freedom of religion, and freedom of speech for me but not for thee.
