"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life". So said Sonia Sotomayor, BO's first pick for the Supreme Court.
In this one quote she has demonstrated that she is a racist and a sexist, and an arrogant one at that. Does every Latina woman have the same "richness" of experience? Can't white males have rich experiences? She has also plainly stated what she wants to do on the bench: come to a conclusion based not on the law but on what she has experienced in her life.
We all have our biases and our prejudices. The really great judges and justices rise above them. Does Ms. Sotomayor want to be great? Only time will tell.
