The Bloom is Off the Rose

Obama's primetime special regarding socializing health care was a bust.  It had the fewest viewers in the 10 p.m. hour, coming after the debut of the new NBC show "The Philanthropist" and after a repeat of the CBS show "CSI:  NY".  It even tied some 8 p.m. comedy repeats as the lowest-rated program on a major broadcast network (i.e., not cable).

What's this?  The American public wasn't front row center for The One?  Could we possibly have Obama fatigue?

Of course, if we had tuned in, we would have been treated to 45 minutes of vague responses, at least according to buinessandmedia.org.  When it took Obama over four and a half minutes to answer one question, Charles Gibson was moved to request that he keep his response to the next question shorter.

This is what happens when Obama flies solo.  Although the guests were specially chosen - no opposing views allowed - the questions weren't, apparently, which means that the ever-present teleprompters couldn't save the day.

Remember when Ronald Reagan was derided as just some actor.  Those comments would be more appropriate to what we have today in Barack Obama, who can only "be" presidential when he is reading what someone else wrote.  Without this prompting, he is revealed for what he is:  a poorly trained understudy not up to the role.
