Henry Waxman (D-CA) was a Loser of the Week last week because of his statement that those who voted against his cap-and-trade legislation were "rooting against the country". Really.
According to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), Waxman's cap-and-tax legislation will give manufacturers in certain industries - chemicals, primary metals, paper, non-metallic minerals - in China an advantage over their U.S. competitors and put U.S. jobs at risk.
Without some kind of agreement placing caps on China's emissions, which China has stated it is not going to do, nearly 1/4 - or $1.2 trillion - of total U.S. manufacturing output would suffer.
What this means is that jobs would go overseas where it's okay to pollute, increasing unemployment here. Worse yet, nothing is really being accomplished because lower emissions here are only being offset by higher emissions in those countries not stupid enough to ruin their own economies.
So, it's really Mr. Waxman and his desire for legislative immortality who is not only rooting against America, but actively participating in its destruction.
All in the name of a hoax.
