Blood in the Water

Rasmussen has been reporting that Obama's Approval Index numbers are in negative territory.  This figure is arrived at by taking those who "strongly approve" and those who "strongly disapprove" and subtracting the lower number from the higher.  The "strongly disapprove" stands at 36%, the "strongly approve" stands at 28%, leaving Obama with a -8.  A review of Rasmussen's numbers show a steady decline since last month.

Public opinion has turned against Obama's economic policies and has now turned against his health care plans.  There is also strong sentiment against a second stimulus, considering the first hasn't worked as he promised.  People are not buying the current explanation that the stimulus was "always" a 2-year plan, even though the promise was for immediate job creation.  I also don't think that people are buying the current excuse offered by the administration that it "misread" the economy.  After all, it was Obama himself who said that if congress didn't approve his stimulus immediately, America would tumble into the economic abyss.

The administration said that our country was on the verge of catastrophe and that only the stimulus could save it.  Things are worse now.  If we were on the verge of catastrophe then, where are we now?

A headline at Politico.com states:  Obama's Rosy Scenario Turns Thorny.  Economists of all stripes are saying that his economic forecasts are too optimistic.  The word "fantasy" was heard.  His Council of Economic Advisers - spouting the official party line of "OMG, who knew it was this bad" - are now saying that the White House will be "updating" the official forecasts.

At a time when he already has a negative approval rating, due in no small part to his explosion of the deficit, and his plans to tax and tax and tax the American people, all the while driving up their energy costs, this update could have epic repercussions, not only for Obama but for all those on the Left who seem content to do his bidding.

And, just look at this:

Is it any wonder, then, that another headline at Politico.com was: Clinton Plans To Reassert Herself.  Apparently, Madame Secretary plans to start articulating her own policy agenda.  According to Politico.com, she "appears increasingly comfortable expressing her views . . . that she's been a hawkish internal voice, pushing Obama toward more confrontational stances toward adversaries from Iran to Cuba.  And she has shown a new willingness in recent days to throw the occasional mild elbow in public - even one directed at the White House".  (Emphasis mine)  It is believed that she will use an upcoming speech to the Council on Foreign Relations to remind everyone of her own resume.

If I can smell the blood in the water, it's a sure bet that the great white shark can, too.
