We all know the story. The little boy who kept crying wolf just to get attention. By the time the real wolf came, nobody was listening to him anymore.
Such could be the fate of Barack Obama, who has cried wolf yet again.
The first time was way back when he wanted the stimulus to go through. He had no idea what was in it. He had had no part in preparing it. While he partied at the White House, in between apology tours to various countries, he told congress to do something. And boy did they ever, loading up what should have been a stimulus bill with mountains of pork that will most likely only stimulate the perpetual campaign coffers of these DC deadweights.
He told us at the time: "A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession, a less robust recovery, and a more uncertain future". Wolf.
Contrary to what he said, his stimulus has done nothing as promised and now the operative story is that it was never designed to work right away. We're all supposed to wait two years for it to really kick in.
Obama is crying wolf again, now, with regard to health care. At one time or another, he has been heard to say that reforming health care is essential to getting the economy back on track. Wolf.
Nothing like adding to his already mounting pile of deficits. After all, it's his vice-president who said that we've got to keep spending money or we'll go broke.
Last night, he had his fourth primetime press conference in six months (Bush had four in eight years). Comfortable in his well-insulated arrogance, he probably thinks the matter is resolved, despite the fact that not a single bill can get out of committee in the House, and Senate #2 "Inappropriate Language" Durbin said ain't nothing gonna happen until the fall.
Too busy looking at the man in the mirror, he's already off to his next cry: "We've got to pass regulatory reform". Wolf.
