2003: "I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer, universal health care plan. A single-payer, health care plan. Universal health care plan. That's what I would like to see." Barack Obama
2007: "My commitment is to make sure that we've got universal health care for all Americans by the end of my first term as president". Barack Obama
2009: "The public option is not your enemy. It is your friend, I believe. Let me also address a (sic) illegitimate concern that is being put forward by those who are claiming a public option is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system." Barack Obama
2009: "I think if we get a good public option, it could lead to single payer, and that's the best way to reach single-payer." Barney Frank (D-MA)
2009: "He was right. The man was right". So said Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) quoting someone from the insurance industry who said that a public option would put the private insurance industry out of business.
Is it any wonder, then, that: (1) congress has exempted itself from the law it is making in this regard; (2) that constituents are shouting down their congressional reps at townhall meetings, leading at least one dimocrat congressman to stop holding townhall meetings; and (3) these posters are popping up all over Los Angeles.
The truth is finally coming out. Is there still time?
