Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), who shouted out the truth during Obama's speech to a joint session of congress, and Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), who walked out before the speech was over.
The Left was quick to say how wrong this was, even though Republicans heckled Clinton and democrats booed Bush 43 during similar events. Harry Reid (D-NV) called Bush 43 a liar. Al Gore (D-La La Land) said that Bush 43 betrayed this country. How many on the Left and Far Left lined up to blame Bush 43 for 9/11.
We on the Right have got to remember that dissent is only patriotic when democrats are sticking it to a Republican. When Republicans are sticking it to a democrat, then it's un-American and, nowadays, racist.
Respect is earned, it is not demanded. Barack Obama hasn't done a darn thing to earn the respect of anybody, all the while doing plenty to earn the disrespect of many.
There is a saying in the legal community, set forth by the great Witkin himself, that the bar (attorneys) has as much right to respect from the bench (judges) as the bench does from the bar. Unfortunately, that is far too often not the case. So it is here. Nobody, up to and including the President of the United States, has the right to tell bald-faced lies to the American public and expect, let alone demand, that everybody sit quiet and let him do it.
I believe that these congressmen exhibited great courage in what they did. We need a heckuva lot more of what they did and a heckuva lot less stupid protocol.
