The One Trick Pony Is Getting Tired

Barack Obama is bound and determined not to let anyone or anything get in the way of his plan to nationalize health care.  He is the one who undertook this.  He is the one who decided to make it his sink-or-swim, signature issue.  He has no one to blame but himself.

Last week, he spoke before a joint session of congress.  Why?  Because it was the only way he could get on national TV.  The networks are getting mighty tired of him commandeering the airwaves, cutting into their ad revenue at a time when that revenue is getting harder and harder to come by.   Over the weekend, he took his campaign to Milwaukee.

And campaign is the exact right word.  He's been real good at going everywhere apologizing for America, which is pretty rude considering that America was paying his way.  He's been real good at blaming Bush for everything that is wrong.  He's been real good at trying to undo everything Bush did to keep us safe.  This is the behavior of someone running for office, not of one who already has it.

Unfortunately, it's become glaringly apparent that Mr. Hope and Change is only good at one thing:  speechifying.  He seems to think that all he needs to do is pop up every now and then, give a speech, and everyone will ooh and aah and give him whatever he wants.  This is not leadership.  This is narcissism.  And it's failing.

As I said, the networks are getting fed up with his constant need for attention, as are we.  Viewership of his prime time talkers goes down with each one.  A Washington Post poll taken after the latest one showed that 54% of those polled said that the more they heard about the plan, the less they liked it, higher than when Hillary tried to take over health care in 1994.  Over the weekend, tens of thousands (one estimate:  2 million) of people marched in DC, not just against his health care plan but against all of his plans, especially the one that is putting us in debt in perpetuity.

But, since he's only good at one thing, that is the only thing he can keep on doing.  A speech last Wednesday.  A speech over the weekend.  60 Minutes on Sunday.  A speech today on Wall Street.

Watching him has become like watching a singer who has lost his voice but won't admit it.  Sad.  It would be ridiculous to say that Obama is already a has been, but that one trick pony is getting mighty tired.
