There's a particularly galling article in the Chicago Sun Times quoting some Chicagoans blaming - get ready for it - George W. Bush for the failure of Chicago to secure the 2016 Olympics. Is it ever going to stop? Is there ever going to be a time when George W. Bush is not to blame for every bad thing that happens?
"The way we refused to sign the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That's why I though the president's going was the deal-maker" said rabble-rouser Jesse Jackson.
Obviously, Gordon Brown, Nicholas Sarkozy, Israel, and Honduras haven't gotten the memo yet.
You know what, Jesse, you are free at any time to take all of the money you have made in this rotten, horrible country and go find one that's more to your liking. I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing the door hit you on the butt on your way out.
State Representative Susana Mendoza claims to have seen resentment against America firsthand when she was in Rio five years ago. She said, "I feel in my gut that this vote today was political and mean-spirited. I travel a lot . . . I thought we had really turned a corner with the election of President Obama. people are so much more welcoming of Americans now. But this isn't the people of those countries. This is the leaders still living with outdated impressions of Americans".
Newsflash Ms. Mendoza, world leaders had nothing to do with the vote in Copenhagen.
These people are still caught up in the myth that the silver-tongued Mr. Obama has but to speak and the world will accede to his every request.
Well, grow up people and get over it. In the overall scheme of things, not getting the Olympics is no big deal. There are far more important things - the war in Afghanistan and a nuclear Iran come to mind - that need to be dealt with. We, and the world, need real leadership, and we're not getting any.
All we're getting is words, words, and more words from a delusional child who has yet to see that endless pontificating is serving no purpose whatsoever.
