Words Mean Things

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples . . ."

What efforts, extraordinary or otherwise?

"Obama has as president created a new climate in international politics.  Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position . . ."

North Korea wants more American money and is continuing to blackmail us with their nuclear capabilities, all of which came courtesy of a former NPP winner, Jimmy Carter.  Iran continues its "peaceful" nuclear program, still denies the Holocaust, still wants Israel wiped off the map, and still provides the ordnance that other "peaceful" mid-east states use to bombard Israel.  Obama has abandoned American allies in order to appease the awakening tyrant Russia.  Obama has abandoned democracy in Honduras in favor of returning a man who has no use for democracy.  Obama has abandoned Israel, the only functioning democracy in the mid-east.

Hey, wait a minute . . . he has "created a new climate in international politics".  Chalk one up for the committee.

"The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations . . ."

Where?  Iran?  North Korea?

"Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting . . ."

How?

"His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population."

Does the majority of the world's population believe in totalitariansim?  Is that why he embraces the dictators of the world - Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Honduras, Venezuela, Iran - but shuns democracies - Israel, Honduras?

As I said yesterday, the words don't yet exist.
