State of the Union

A friend of mine sent me an e-mail advising me of the proper way to watch Obama's State of the Union address:  Have a bottle of whiskey or scotch or what-have-you nearby, along with a shot glass, and take a shot every time Obama used the word ' I '.

As expected, Obama did not disappoint, using ' I ' 96 times in 70 minutes, meaning he used the word about once a minute.  Following my friend's plan would have sent me to the emergency room or the morgue
.

For the first time in anyone's memory, probably in forever, a State of the Union speech was used to chastise another separate-but-equal branch of the government when Obama spoke out against a recent decision from the Supreme Court, prompting a head-shaking from Justice Samuel Alito
.

In another first, Obama didn't take a single second to thank our troops serving in harm's way, although he did call for an end to the don't ask, don't tell policy.

The two police officers who ended the terrorist attack at Ft. Hood were sitting next to his wife, but Obama never once introduced them.

Nancy Pelosi kept popping up and down like a jack-in-the-box, even when Veep Biden sat it out.  Harry Reid could hardly keep his eyes open, and Janet Napolitano was seen with hers closed.

He is quite content to blame Republicans - especially his predecessor - for everything that's wrong in this country.  For a man who's supposedly so intelligent, how could it have escaped his notice that (1) his own party killed health care because of infighting, and (2) his own party doesn't want cap-and-trade.  These are, allegedly, his signature issues and his own party couldn't get them done.  So much easier to blame the other party, isn't it, especially when the media is on your side.

As is usual with our Narcissist-in-Chief, his speech was all about him.  If Obama is aware of the fact that most of America doesn't like what he's doing, he never let on.  It's his way or the highway so we might just as well get on board

Actually, the American people are beginning to say that it's our way or the highway and those who don't get on board are going to get left by the wayside.

I'm thinking that Obama isn't going to like that change.
