NIMBY

Not In My Back Yard

Ever notice how something sounds like a really great idea . . . until you're told that "it" might/maybe/will affect you?  All the lefties who think that alternative energy is such a great idea nonetheless don't want nuclear power plants near them.  Remember the hue and cry when someone floated the idea of windmills in Massachusetts?  None other than Ted Kennedy himself objected strenuously.  After all, on a clear day, he might actually see these windmills.  If he was sober.  If he was using a very strong pair of binoculars.  But, I digress.

Such seems to be the case with the planned civilian trial(s) of the mastermind of 9/11 and his blood-soaked cohorts.  When Eric Holder imperiously announced that he -- and he alone, no consultation whatsoever with anybody else, including you-know-who -- had decided that these men -- who had already agreed to plead guilty and face execution -- would be tried in criminal court just like any other run-of-the-mill felon and that the trial(s) would take place in . . . New York City, such decision was originally greeted with loud applause and pats on the back, amid cries of "see how great we are".

NYC saw dollar $ign$.  Surely, the influx of reporters and journalists and other hangers-on from around the world would be good for the local economy.  Well, as it always does, fantasy gave way to reality.  The $200 million+ per year price tag just for security began to worry some people.  Then there were those bothersome busybodies who, for some unknown reason, thought that having some of the most infamous terrorists in the world right in the heart of The Big Apple just might attract other terrorists to the same spot and cause some trouble.  I mean really.  How silly is that.

And now that no greater an authority than Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has weighed in on the issue, heretofore cowboy Holder has been told to look for other venues. Before I forget, I must mention why Di Fi came to this conclusion:  "In my view, from an intelligence perspective, I think the situation has changed with the Christmas attack".  Yea, that whole Underwear Bomber thing.  After all, until that happened, we were living in peace and harmony with the terrorists of the world, all because Obama had reached out with his unclenched hand.  Another "man-caused disaster" on the American homeland (the Ft. Hood massacre being just an "aberration") was simply out of the ream of possibility

And now we're back to my original point:  where in America will these propaganda fests be held?  If ultra liberal New York City can't stomach the idea, who can?
