The he being Obama and the answer being no.
In his press conference after the "shellacking" democrats took on Tuesday, Obama claimed that the things he did weren't his agenda, they were simply a response to an "emergency" situation. In other words, he isn't a ideologue, just some guy who did what needed to be done to get us out of the ditch the Republicans drove us into, never mind that democrats have been in charge of the pursestrings since 2007.
The election was an overwhelming defeat of Obama, especially health care, and he's still running off at the mouth insinuating that we are the ones who don't get it.
I don't think he gets that democrats aren't real happy with him right now. Many just lost their jobs because of him. (Actually, they lost their jobs because they went along with him, which they shouldn't have done, but they're certainly not going to blame themselves and he's a very convenient target.) The democrats who didn't go down in defeat just might be a little more reluctant to go along with the Non-Ideologue-in-Chief.
I'm also not sure that he "gets" that he's got to do more than give speeches. I was always afraid that Obama would think that he could get by on his speeches, i.e., he wouldn't really have to do anything other than give good speeches. We the People would swoon and agree with everything he said. He could then leave things to congress and go off to his endless rounds of golf, weekly parties, and joy rides around the world.
Speaking of the latter, his upcoming trip to Mumbai and Indonesia shows once and for all that he doesn't "get" it.
He is taking with him an entourage of 3,000, for which he's reserved some 800 rooms at various 5-star hotels, along with over 40 vehicles, 2 jumbo jets in addition to Air Force One, security jets, AND 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier.
While Americans lose their jobs, their health care, and their homes, the spoiled brat in the White House is off on another taxpayer-funded vacation, which is going to cost us, so it's said, $200 million a day, just because he wants to celebrate the Hindu Festival of Lights.
It's good to be the king.
