Well, today's the day. Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) goes on "trial" today for ethics violations. Over the weekend, it was revealed that he's not let his ethics-violating-skills go to waste. Seems he's been taking money from his PAC to pay his legal bills, which is yet another ethics violation. Can this guy not read the rules or does he think they don't apply to him or is it just that he's non compos mentis and in need of a guardian? To paraphrase Chris Matthews when he's railing against Sarah Palin, are we even sure that Mr. Rangel can read?
In any event, the House is still in the hands of democrats, so I'm really not expecting this "trial" to result in anything stronger than a slap on the wrist, maybe a censure.
But what puzzles me is that after spending some $2.2 million, none of which was his own money, Mr. Rangel is going to be representing himself. What? They wanted more to actually represent him at the trial?
Next up, Maxine Waters.
Ain't we got fun.
