Texas and South Carolina enacted laws requiring photo ID in order to vote. The Obama administration in the form of Eric Holder has blocked those laws claiming that they're discriminatory, i.e., minorities are less apt to have photo ID than whites.
Meanwhile, those who want to attend a book signing by Michelle Obama not only have to show photo ID, they have to give their Social Security numbers.
Is a book signing more important than voting? Of course not. She probably didn't even write the book. Maybe, she just doesn't want any minorities attending.
The real issue in these cases isn't that more minorities than whites don't have photo ID. The real issue is why they won't get off their butts and go get one. Neither the Department of Justice nor the courts should be in the business of accommodating the lazy.
Of course, the DOJ also shouldn't be in the business of arming Mexican drug cartels, but that's a topic for another day.
