Finally . . .

After months (years) of teasing (is there anything more ridiculous than Hillary playing the tease!?!), Hillary Clinton has finally announced what anyone with a brain in his/her head has known for years: she’s running for president.

This is the moment, and the reason why, she hitched her wagon to Bill all those years ago. He got her where she is today and if he knows what’s good for him, he’ll get her further. In her mind, if she wins, then all those years of humiliation at his hands will finally have finally paid off.

“I’m in and I’m in to win.” Those words, spoken by one of the most ruthless people ever to inhabit the earth, should strike terror into the hearts of those running against her. Anyone doubt that she will slash and burn and destroy anyone who gets in the way of what she believes is her divine right?   Anyone doubt that she doesn’t already have a fat dossier of naughty info on everyone running against her? Don’t ever forget that she had her hands on raw FBI files.

I’m looking forward to the debates. Hillary doesn’t just expect deferential treatment, she tacitly demands it. However, none of the men running against her, if he really expects to win, can afford to kiss her broad backside. Her opponents will have to challenge her. How can Joe Biden or Christopher Dodd or any one of the other interchangeable senators say that he is the best candidate without, at the same time, saying she isn’t. All the bowing and scraping, with blood in their eyes, should be fun.

It will take my mind off the fact that Republicans are, to date, fielding a miserably pitiful slate.

Dear Ms. Boxer,

You recently said that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was incapable of understanding certain things because she didn’t have children. That’s not exactly how you said it, but that’s what you meant.  It's more than unfortunate that Ms. Rice didn't have children.  The world could use more people like her.

You stated that you are not going to pay a personal price for the war in Iraq because your children are too old and your grandchild is too young. It’s exactly that kind of stupidity that’s going to lengthen and deepen the war on terror.  And, most likely, bring it to our shores again.

If we don’t eliminate the terrorist threat now, whether it’s in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, or wherever, your grandchildren and your great-grandchildren will be fighting it.

And they’ll have you, your short-sighted policies, and your hatred of all things Bush to thank for it.

Global Warming

I don’t know how much more of this global warming I can stand. It was 20 degrees at my house this morning. One of my pipes froze. I had to put a space heater in my pump house to thaw it out just so I could have some water. Last year, because of global warming, I had snow in March and April.

The forecast says it might snow today. I know it snowed a little bit yesterday because I was driving in it.

Global warming is really wreaking havoc in my life. Much more of it, and I just might freeze to death. Why isn’t the government protecting me from? Where is FEMA?

And None Dare Call It Treason

Joe Biden, who fancies himself presidential material despite the fact that nothing in his past has changed since the last time he had to drop out of a presidential race, recently uttered a statement that defies belief.

The intelligence-challenged democrats in DC held a symbolic, nonbinding vote on a troop increase in Iraq, before President Bush announced there was going to be one. The vote, in Senator Biden’s view, was an effort to “demonstrate to the President he’s on his own.”

At a time in our history when we are facing an enemy unlike any in the past, an enemy who has stated unequivocally that it wants nothing less than our complete and utter destruction, some man whose ego will always outweigh his abilities wants to show the world - and that enemy - that the President of the United States is alone, that he has no support.

It’s despicable. It’s treason.

Buffalo Bagels

John “Pretty Boy” Edwards has announced that he is going to run for president, again. He even chose to make his announcement from New Orleans, where he was pretending to help clean things up. He says that America has changed, and he has changed. Instead of thinking about being the best candidate, he is thinking about being the best president.. He no longer thinks that identifying problems is good enough. He believes - ready for this - that identifying solutions is more important.

He has reached this higher plane of enlightenment by maturing personally and politically, through serious “self-analysis and awareness.” Anyone think that lack of self-awareness is one of John Edwards’ flaws?

Trying to further his new-found claim to seriousness he said, “Being president is a job with a lot of lonely responsibility. I think there’s a maturity and a depth required to do the job and do it well.” He wants to be president “out of service.” This isn’t just his ego talking.

It took him 50+ years of living to realize that solving problems is more important than enumerating them? That being President of the United States requires maturity and responsibility? Is he serious?

This man actually believes that there are people out there who will buy this drivel.  Unfortunately, he's right.

Idiot of the Day

WINNER! Nancy Pelosi has declared herself “the most powerful woman in America.” Careful there, Nancy. Keep saying things like that and you’ll find yourself in Fort Marcy Park with a gun in your hand, a bullet in your brain, and everyone declaring it a suicide.

FIRST RUNNER UP! Barney Frank, who has said that American companies can expect proposals mandating increased wages and health care, a boost in union membership, and greater scrutiny of trade agreements. Mr. Frank wants to reduce the “inequality” that inhibits economic growth, apparently believing that raising the cost of doing business will lead to greater economic growth, when all it’s actually going to do is add to unemployment. After calling himself a capitalist, Mr. Frank said he intends to hold hearings into what the government can do about “income disparity.” That’s not capitalism, Barney, that’s communism and it’s failed everywhere it’s been tried. Obviously, Mr. Frank has been feeding at the public trough for so long that his contented grunts have blocked out the sound of reality.

SECOND RUNNER UP! Pat Robertson, who claims that God told him that America is going to be attacked this year. No kidding! Anyone with a brain knows that we’re going to be attacked again, it’s just a question of when. Maybe this year, maybe not. The first question is: How bad is the attack going to be? The second question is: Will it be enough to wake up the fools in Washington to the fact that we’re really in trouble and need to do something?

Dear Mr. Ahmadinejad:

I recently read where you claim that someone named Mahdi will reappear on earth with Jesus, possibly by the spring equinox. You claim that Jesus will act as the lieutenant for this Mahdi in the struggle against oppression and establishment of justice in the world and that Jesus himself has told of the coming of God’s last messenger.

I can’t help but wonder where you get your information. Even Jesus doesn’t know the date of His return (Matthew 4:36, Mark 13:32), so how can you? Secondly, Jesus is the Son of God, so why would He act as a lieutenant for a mere messenger of God? Finally, where does Jesus speak of the coming of God’s last messenger? I can’t find it anywhere in my Bible.

You also asked Christians a question: What would Jesus do if he were present in the world today?

I don’t know everything that Jesus would do if He were present in the world today. I have a suspicion, though, that He wouldn’t put up with your stated intention to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Just in case you haven’t heard, Jews are God’s chosen people. I also don’t think He would allow your wanton slaughter of people who profess God instead of Allah.

You asked, “If Jesus were present today, who would be facing him and who would be following him?”

That’s a question I can answer. Christians will be following Him. You and your kind will be the ones opposing Him, and that’s not a place I would want to be.

Shed No Tears

Saddam Hussein, the “Butcher of Baghdad,” is dead, executed for his bloodlust and resultant crimes against humanity. This is an historical event of no small moment. Assassinations and coups, followed by murder, as well as abdications and going into exile, are quite common, but when was the last time a former head of state was tried, convicted, and executed in accordance with the law of the land? And I don’t mean by a kangaroo court.

Hitler killed himself. Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Ho Chi Minh died in their beds. Mussolini and Ceacescu were simply killed.

Saddam Hussein deserves no kind words, no mourning. He was a sub-human animal, guilty of unspeakable acts of horror. I heard one man who investigated some of the mass graves found in Iraq say that 60% of the victims were women and children. Iraq actually had prisons just for children.

During Saddam’s reign of terror, people were tortured, thrown from buildings, fed feet first into shredders, and buried alive. He gassed the Kurds in Northern Iraq, which makes the Kurdish President of Iraq’s opposition to the death of Saddam all the more striking. Saddam murdered his own sons-in-law.

It is said that Saddam committed his first murder at the tender age of 8 or 9, and he raised his sons with the same disregard for life. Uday, who suffered serious injuries in an apparent assassination attempt, liked to pick young women at random to satisfy his sexual urges. When the family of one young woman complained, he had the young woman sent back to her family in a box, in pieces. The rape rooms of Saddam’s regime are well documented.

Why do such people exist? I think it’s because of the principle that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Yin and yang, if you prefer. For every good person, there is a bad person. And for every really good person, there is a really bad person.

Saddam Hussein was just such a person. He has begun his eternity in the hell he so richly deserves, alongside all the other bloody butchers of history.

Merry Christmas

And the angel said unto them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” . . . And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Luke 2:10-14

For the Troops

Think of the soldier, sailor, airman, marine,
the places they are, the things that they've seen.
They stand in harm's way that we may be free.
But for many this year, there's no Christmas tree.

So proudly they serve, asking naught in return.
It's duty and honor that make their souls burn.
For God and for country, for you and for me.
But for many this year, there's no Christmas glee.

The season is here, let's all do our part
to send them a gift that's straight from the heart.
Click on your mouse to letssaythanks.com
and send them a card from their faraway home.

So easily done, just a small bit of time.
And what's even more, it won't cost a dime.
Say Merry Christmas, a big Thank You too!
They stand in our place, it's the least we can do.

Thoughts For The Day

Somebody call the American Civil Liberties Union! Government employees are praying, praying do you hear me, for the recovery of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD). Democrats, whose acquaintance with God is merely passing and usually consists of, “Hey Big Guy, you’re in my chair,” have probably worn out their prayer rugs, what with control of the Senate hanging in the balance. Harry Reid has probably repented and repented and repented again over his recent million dollar sweetheart land deal, although he’s not likely to really do anything about it. Democrats think that God can be fooled with crocodile tears and empty promises.

Zogby has announced that the United States’ reputation in the Mideast is sinking. Like their’s is rising here.

Have you noticed that everywhere there is a war or rumor of a war, muslims are involved?

Seen that Jessica Simpson commercial?  She probably thinks she looks sexy, when in actuality she looks like she has a motor-control problem.

The dream is dead. Once upon a time, Martin Luther King, Jr., the hero of the civil rights movement, dreamed there would come a time when his children would be judged on the content of their character, not the color of their skin. Decades hence, his so-called followers have killed his dream. The Congressional Black Caucus (is there a Congressional White Caucus?) has asked democrats on the hill to hire more minorities. Nancy Pelosi has promised to make minority hiring a priority for incoming committee chairmen. So, character counts for nothing; skin color for everything. And since it’s democrats who are doing it, no racism is involved. Remember, only Republicans can be racists, even though they hire more minorities than democrats.

The so-called president of Iran stated in an interview with Time magazine - where he’s in running for man of the year, if you can believe that - that “No country in the world looks upon America as a friend.” Really? Then why are we the first country that every other country comes crying to when it needs help? I suggest that in the future, all countries of the world go to Iran. Maybe if that backwater actually did something for the world besides spout hatred, it would realize just how really hard it is to be a real member of the global community. Oh, and after the countries have gotten what they want, I expect them to turn around and spit on Iran, just like they do with America.

On a high note, a federal district court has thrown out a lawsuit for reparations for slavery. Apparently, even a federal judge couldn’t quite buy the fact that certain people can’t succeed today because of what happened to some long-dead ancestor.

Here’s my take on slavery: every descendant of a slave in America should get down on their hands and knees every night of their lives and thank almighty God that their ancestors endured the horrors and cruelty of slavery. Because of what the slaves suffered, their descendants get to grow up in the greatest country on the face of the globe. All of you who think your opportunities here are limited, go to Africa and see what doors are open to you.

Thoughts For The Day

Poor Nancy Pelosi. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson was just re-elected in Louisiana, and her choice to head the Permanent Select Committee on “Intelligence” doesn’t know if al Qaeda is made up of Sunnis or Shiites, even though he is “acutely aware of al-Qaeda’s desire to harm Americans.” He may have been on the intelligence committee for years, but he certainly wasn’t paying attention. Feel safer?

Some outfit called the Military Religious Freedom Foundation believes that Christian military officers who share their faith at work in the Pentagon pose a threat to national security. Why, you may ask? Because public displays of faith by military officers make it appear that America is a Christian nation waging war on non-Christians. For my money, it’s the islamic fanatics who are waging war on America in the name of their god who are the real threat to national security. But that’s just me.

Deval Patrick, the newly-elected governor of Massachusetts, who pledged “transparency and openness” in government, has made all of the volunteers named to his transition working groups sign confidentiality agreements. Where I come from, transparency and confidentiality are wholly different, but then again, this is Massachusetts we’re talking about, where driving a woman into a body of water and leaving her there to die is only “leaving the scene of an accident.”

An AIDS organization is launching an advertising campaign saying that Pfizer’s marketing of Viagra encourages recreational use of the drug, which fosters the spread of sexually-transmitted diseases such as HIV and AIDS. The recreational use of any drug does not spread disease. Promiscuous sexual behavior spreads disease. Here’s an idea: Take responsibility for your own actions instead of blaming a big pharmaceutical company.

A recent USA Today/Gallup Poll revealed that fewer than 1 in 5 (20%) have a “great deal” of trust in President Bush to “recommend the right thing” for the United States to do in Iraq.   The same poll revealed that confidence in democrat congressional leaders to chart the proper course is only 14%. The democrats haven’t even taken over leadership yet, and the people already have no confidence in them. Feel safer yet?

The imams who were taken off a US Airways flight now say they want an out-of-court settlement. Well isn’t that the way of it. They like living in our country. They like the benefits this country has to offer, including the justice system. So just what is it exactly that their maniacal brethren are so keen on destroying?

Heard tell that intelligence agencies during the Clinton administration were spying on Princess Diana. Sounds like Bubba was trolling for a date. Well, she was single and he thought he was.

If environmentalists really believe that human beings are destroying the planet, what should they do with themselves?

Happy Holidays?

Voting on that day, in each and every town.
Democrats stood up, Republicans sat down.
When the count came in, the news was very bad.
And by the time the sun came up, we knew that we’d been had.

Jingle bells, D.C. smells, democrats are back.
Nancy is the Speaker now and, mercy, what a hack.
Jingle bells, Reid hard sells their never ending tripe.
And for the plucking near and far, Republicans are ripe.

They say they will play nice, we know that they will not.
They party voted out will soon feel things get hot.
Investigations now! Subpoenas left and right!
And by the time the smoke has cleared, it will be such a sight.

Jingle bells, shotgun shells, batten down the hatch.
In terms of meanness and of spite, we’re simply not their match.
Jingle bells, D.C. smells, democrats are back.
Of ranting and raving and the like, there won’t be any lack.

Just A Thought

Heard that Hillary Clinton was going to run for President. My gosh, I was so surprised. Her announcement was so unexpected, so out of the blue. It never occurred to me that she would ever run for President. I’m usually so politically astute. How could I have missed this?

Heard that Barack Obama might run for President in 2008. Let’s see. He was sworn into office in January 2005, making him a newcomer to the national stage. Notwithstanding this, there appears to be a groundswell of support for the man. Think that would be happening if he was white?

Heard that the imams who got bumped from their flight have consulted the Council on American-Islamic Relations for legal representation as they seek redress for their inconvenience. Let’s see. These guys made a fuss just to provoke a confrontation and now they are claiming that they were humiliated and they want justice. Sounds to me like they’re big fans of the legal system the more militant factions of their so-called religion want to destroy. Oh well, better get it while they can.

Here’s an idea: let’s end the Iraq war the same way we ended World War II. At some time in the not too distant future, nuclear weapons are going to be used. Better it should be us using them on the fanatics who want to destroy civilization than those self-same fanatics using them on us.

Nancy Pelosi is facing another dilemma.  Dem. Alan Mollahan, who is under investigation by the FBI, wants to be chairman of the committee that oversees the FBI.  This shouldn't be a hard call, but with democrats you never know.

There is nothing but pessimism on the part of the American people about the war in Iraq.  This is due in no small part to the Bush-hating mainstream media which reports only the news that makes it look like things are not going well.  If the MSM had ever actually done its job and reported on all of the news, including the good news, America would be more optimistic.  Of course, Republicans would still be in charge in Congress and that's not what the MSM had in mind at all.  I often wonder, how do these people envision their lives if we lose the war on terror?  Have they ever even thought of that possibility, or are they foolish enough to believe that they will have freedom of the press under an islamic regime.  Or, do they just run off at the mouth thinking that if push ever comes to shove, that the military they so despise will actually save them and everything will be okay.  Answer that, David Gregory.

Is America Still the Land of the Free?

After reading the letter that Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe wrote to Rex W. Tillerson, the new Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, the answer to that is “maybe not.”

"We would recommend that ExxonMobil publicly acknowledge both the reality of climate change and the role of humans in causing or exacerbating it."  The good senators have decided that global warming is a fact. The issue is decided, the debate is closed. They are “concerned about the credibility of the United States in the international community” and believe that denying global warming adversely affects that credibility. While they admit that “other factors complicate our foreign policy,” they “are persuaded that the climate change denial strategy” has “helped foster the perception that the United States is insensitive to a matter of great urgency for all of mankind and has thus damaged the stature of our nation internationally.”

It is their “hope that under your leadership, ExxonMobil would end its dangerous support of the ‘deniers’. Likewise, we look to you to guide ExxonMobil to capitalize on its significant resources and prominent industry position to assist this county in taking its appropriate leadership role in promoting the technological innovation necessary to address climate change and in fashioning a truly global solution to what is undeniably a global problem.”

Apparently, ExxonMobil has been using its money (ill-gotten or not is another debate) to fund organizations like the Competitive Enterprise Institute that dispute the mainstream beliefs on global warming. According to these two great scientists of the senate, there is no such thing as skepticism, there is only “obfuscation.” Non-belief in the mainstream’s idea of global warming is merely a “pseudo-scientific, non-peer reviewed echo chamber.” “Climate change denial” has “exerted an influence out of all proportion to its size or relative scientific credibility.”

Rockefeller/Snowe want ExxonMobil to “come clean” about its “past denial activities” and that the “corporation take positive steps by a date certain toward a new and more responsible corporate citizenship” because “ExxonMobil is responsible for much of this bogus scientific ‘debate’ and the demand for what the deniers cynically refer to as ‘sound science’.” God forbid that sound science should actually enter the debate.

“In light of the adverse impacts still resulting from your corporations activities, we must request that ExxonMobil end any further financial assistance or other support to groups or individuals whose public advocacy has contributed to the small, but unfortunately effective, climate change denial myth.” No threat there.

As an example of how far the current debate on global warming needs to go before global warming can be accepted as a fact, look no further than the predictions on this year’s hurricane season. Before the season began, the experts’ predictions were dire. As it turned out, this year’s season was the mildest in a decade. If “experts” can’t predict what’s going to happen three months, two months, a month from now, what on earth makes us believe that they can predict years into the future? Just as an aside, I wonder if the global warming jihadists have figured into the equation the consequences of a nuke or two set off by the Islamic jihadists.

So, is America still the land of the free? When government moves to silence dissent and people are not allowed to act on their beliefs, then the answer is, No.

The actions of Sens. Rockefeller and Snowe are beyond disgraceful.
