P.S.

Yesterday, I forgot to add Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which immediately filed a lawsuit against Oklahoma, which had the nerve to pass a measure saying that American law would reign supreme in Oklahoma.  OMG!  The horror of it all!

Here is the actual text as put on the ballot:

This measure amends the State Constitution.  It changes a section that deals with the courts of this state.  It would amend Article 7, Section 1.  It makes courts rely on federal and state law when deciding cases.  It forbids courts from considering or using international law.  It forbids courts from considering or using Sharia Law.

International law is also known as the law of nations.  It deals with the conduct of international organizations and independent nations, such as countries, states and tribes.  It deals with their relationship with each other.  It also deals with some of their relationships with persons.

The law of nations is formed by the general assent of civilized nations.  Sources of international law also include international agreements, as well as treaties.

Sharia Law is Islamic law.  It is based on two principal sources, the Koran and the teaching of Mohammed.

Shall the proposal be approved?

For the proposal.

Yes: __________

Against the proposal.

No: __________

Hey, here's a couple of talking points for CAIR.  If sharia law is so great, why aren't you living in one of the hellholes that practices it?  Why are you here enjoying all the benefits of America?  It's ever so easy to spout the joys of something when you don't have to actually live with it.

Freedom of religion in this country actually exists.  It does not exist in islamic countries.  However, every religion in this country bows to the laws of this country.  We are actually free to practice our religion, right up to the point that it violates the law.

All Oklahoma did was ensure that muslim women get the protections of our law, instead of the savagery that is sharia.

Either put your money where your mouth is and go live under sharia or shut the hell up about it.  We're sick of your hypocrisy.
______

P.S.  Take some of the people who think that socialism is a better way of life with you.

Losers of the Week

1.  The San Francisco County Board of Supervisors who outlawed toys in Happy Meals.  Do the liberals believe that there is any expect of our lives they don't have the right to control?

2.  Barack Obama, who has already taped his appearance on 60 Minutes (airing Sunday) in which he reiterates that the people voted the way they did NOT because they don't like his policies, but because he didn't explain them well enough, which is just another way of saying that We the People are stupid.  I for one don't feel safer knowing that the President of the United States, Leader of the Free World, Man With His Finger on the Nuclear Button, has no connection to reality.

3.  Democrats in America, in more ways than one.  They were voted out of office because they believed the Pied Piper of Chicago and went along with his schemes.  They just might still be in office if they had listened to their constituents.  Always dance with the one who brung you.

4.  California.  Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result.  Californians, once again, is going to send all democrats to Sacramento, as well as Boxer back to DC.  In other words, they kept on doing what got them into a mess in the first place.

They voted to keep in place economy- and job-killing regulations regarding that hoax of the ages known as global warming or climate change or whatever else it's called these days.

They voted to lower to a simple majority the number of legislators required to pass a budget, falling for the lie that a 2/3 vote is still necessary to raise taxes.  Yea!  We're going to have a budget without raising taxes.  And, every day those guys go without passing a budget is a day without pay or perks.  Really.  No kidding.  They fell for it.

Am I the only one who can envision a time, in the not-too-distant future, when our overpaid, underwhelming legislators - having gone a week or two without pay and perks - can't drum up the 2/3 votes necessary to pass a budget with the inevitable raising of taxes?

Never Mind

In April 2009, Stuart Rothenberg had this to say about Republican hopes for retaking the House in 2010:

"That idea is lunacy to be put to rest immediately . . . there are no signs of a dramatic rebound for the party, and the chance of Republicans winning control of either chamber in the 2010 midterm elections is zero.  Not 'close to zero' or 'small."  Zero . . . Big changes in the House require a political wave . . . The problem for Republicans is that they aren't yet in the position - and won't be in one by November of next year - to run on a pure message of change, or on pent-up demand for change . . . Waves are built on dissatisfaction and frustration, and there is little in national survey data that suggest most voters are upset with President Barack Obama's performance or the performance of his party."

By the time of last Tuesday's election, Mr. Rothenberg was predicting a 55-65 seat Republican gain.

After the 2008 election, James Carville wrote a book called "40 More Years:  How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation," which was published in May 2009.  Selected tidbits include:

"Republicans have no hope of making serious inroads into Democratic (sic) advantages in 2010, or likely in 2012 and 2014 and so on."

And, "American presidential politics is generally not a back-and-forth enterprise.  There are eras in which one party dominates.  Today, a Democratic (sic) majority is emerging, and it's my hypothesis, one I share with a great many others, that this majority will guarantee the Democrats remain in power for the next 40 years."

In October 2009, Paul Krugman said:

"Lots of buzz about the possibility that 2010 will be another 1994, with the triumphant conservative majority sweeping back into its rightful place of power.  And of course, anything is possible . . . But the signs don't really point to that . . . Here in my home state, it's looking increasingly likely that Corzine will beat Christie after all."

Back in March 2010, Keith Olbermann of MSNBC said:

"Failed, Mr. Boehner.  You lost.  You blew it  . . . I would think the 'will and desires of your fellow countrymen' should be pretty d**n clear by now:  Your countrymen think your policies are of the past, and your tactics are of the gutter . . . And so I offer this olive branch to the defeated Republicans and Tea Partiers . . . You are rapidly moving from 'The Party of No,' past 'The Party of No Conscience,' towards 'The Party of No Relevancy.'  You are behind the wheel of a political Toyota.  And before the mid-terms, you will have been reduced to only being this generation's home for the nuts."

In April 2010, Mark Halperin of Time wrote:

" . . . the President is on a path to be a huge success by the time of November's midterm elections . . . The health care bill's passage is, of course, the White House's signal achievement."

As recently as September 10, Ryan Grim and Amanda Turkel of the Huffington Post wrote:

" . . . in 2010, a handful of House Democrats have an opportunity to prove that maxim ['that Democrats' path to power lies through the center'] wrong and to demonstrate that even in a tough year, by standing up for core progressive values, a Democrat can win a tough race . . . Tom Perriello in Virginia, Carol Shea-Porter in New Hampshire, Alan Grayson in Florida, Mary Jo Kilroy in Ohio and John Hall in New York all represent swing districts and have cast votes that Washington consultants label 'tough.'  Those tough votes, though, are paying off in unexpected ways.  By bucking the conventional wisdom, the progressive Democrats have locked down support among their base and are winning over independents, while Blue Dogs face a dispirited electorate unsure what they stand for."*

Even more recently on September 30, Robert Shrum (who has never managed a winning campaign) said:

"I now think the Democrats will hold the Congress - yes, the House as well as the Senate . . . With the onset of autumn, there are signs that the Republican tide is receding.  Karl Rove would understand - the same dynamic was the key to George W. Bush's narrow re-election in 2004, when the GOP based showed up to vote in numbers that defied the polling models.  This time, it's the Democratic (sic) base that's stirring - and finally emerging - and the survey research is registering the shift."

And yet even more recently on October 16, Joe Conason said of a National Public Radio poll:

"The NPR survey shows the Democrats winning the 'message debate' in recent weeks . . . In the June poll, Democrats 'lost every message contest' by 12 points; now the Democratic (sic) message is prevailing.  If this is a 'wave election' that will produce a Republican tsunami, voters ought to have tuned out the losing party by now . . . the NPR poll ratifies a growing strain of analysis suggesting that the Republican tide has crested - and that voter sentiment has begun to reverse direction."

Sixty seats and counting . . .

Does He Get It?

The he being Obama and the answer being no.

In his press conference after the "shellacking" democrats took on Tuesday, Obama claimed that the things he did weren't his agenda, they were simply a response to an "emergency" situation.  In other words, he isn't a ideologue, just some guy who did what needed to be done to get us out of the ditch the Republicans drove us into, never mind that democrats have been in charge of the pursestrings since 2007.

The election was an overwhelming defeat of Obama, especially health care, and he's still running off at the mouth insinuating that we are the ones who don't get it.

I don't think he gets that democrats aren't real happy with him right now.  Many just lost their jobs because of him.  (Actually, they lost their jobs because they went along with him, which they shouldn't have done, but they're certainly not going to blame themselves and he's a very convenient target.)  The democrats who didn't go down in defeat just might be a little more reluctant to go along with the Non-Ideologue-in-Chief.

I'm also not sure that he "gets" that he's got to do more than give speeches.  I was always afraid that Obama would think that he could get by on his speeches, i.e., he wouldn't really have to do anything other than give good speeches.  We the People would swoon and agree with everything he said.  He could then leave things to congress and go off to his endless rounds of golf, weekly parties, and joy rides around the world.

Speaking of the latter, his upcoming trip to Mumbai and Indonesia shows once and for all that he doesn't "get" it.

He is taking with him an entourage of 3,000, for which he's reserved some 800 rooms at various 5-star hotels, along with over 40 vehicles, 2 jumbo jets in addition to Air Force One, security jets, AND 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier.

While Americans lose their jobs, their health care, and their homes, the spoiled brat in the White House is off on another taxpayer-funded vacation, which is going to cost us, so it's said, $200 million a day, just because he wants to celebrate the Hindu Festival of Lights.

It's good to be the king.

Bye Bye Baby, Baby Good Bye

After a blessedly brief tenure, Nancy Pelosi has to say good-bye to being Speaker of the House of Representatives.  She'll have to move out of that big office and, of course, give up that plane she's been using to chauffeur her august self around, to the tune of millions of taxpayer dollars.

If she stays, she'll go from being, politically speaking, the most powerful woman in America and second in line to the presidency (Biden is first in line) to being just 1 of 435.  The internet is full of rumors that she'll quit if she can't be Speaker anymore.  We'll see.

So, let me say good-bye to the golden tongue of Nancy Pelosi:

When asked if Obamacare was constitutional, she replied, "Are you serious."

When speaking on Obamacare she said, "But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."

Also when speaking on Obamacare she said, "This legislation alone will create 4 million jobs, about 400,000 jobs very soon."  (I've looked, but I can't find them.)

She also said, although I can't find the exact quote, that Obamacare would be a jobs bill because people would be free to leave their current jobs and pursue their dreams because they would have health care.

She also believes that the Food Stamp and Unemployment Insurance programs are two of the greatest economic stimuli around.  Her thinking is that people who get unemployment checks go out and spend those checks, which puts money into the economy and keeps other businesses open.

If 10% unemployment is one of the greatest economic stimuli around, what would 100% unemployment be?

Upon learning of her soon-to-be ouster, Mrs. Pelosi said, "The outcome of the election does not diminish the work we have done for the American people."  Apparently, she doesn't grasp the fact that what her party has done to the American people is why so many of them will be out of a cushy government job come January.

She also said, "We must all strive to find common ground (Now she wants to find common ground.  When her party was the majority, Republicans were locked out of the room and then called obstructionists.) to support the middle class, create jobs, (Apparently, food stamps and unemployment haven't done enough.) reduce the deficit, (After sending it into the stratosphere?) and move our nation forward."

We all want our nation to move forward.  The vote yesterday showed that millions of us have a different idea of forward.

The View From Here

I hear there's a show called "The View,"
whose hosts are a left-leaning crew.
The woman named Behar
did show that she's sub-par
in a manner befitting a shrew.

Why is That?

Nina Totenberg from NPR once said that she wished that the late Sen. Jesse Helms (R-SC), or his grandchildren, would get AIDS.  She still works at NPR.

Joy Behar of ABC's "The View" called Republican senatorial candidate Sharron Angle a word that begins with 'B' and rhymes with "itch, not once, not twice, but three times.  She even said that Ms. Angle was going to hell.   Last I heard, she still has her job at ABC.

Juan Williams merely said what millions of other people think, i.e., when he sees muslims getting on a plane, he's scared.  He lost his job immediately.

Why is that?

See How Stupid She Is

There is no end to the ridicule and scorn that the left heaps on Sarah Palin.  In their minds, to quote the Kirstie Alley character on "Cheers", she is "too stupid to live".

Recently, Sarah Palin has been saying, "Party like it's 1773".  The left is quick to jump on this latest act of monumental stupidity on her part.  Doesn't she know that the birth of our nation happened in 1776.  What happened in 1773?

Got the Blues in California

I got an e-mail from a friend of mine today, which was a copy of the letter/e-mail he sent to Carly Fiorina, who is trying to unseat Barbara Boxer.

He said that he could not possibly vote for Fiorina because she said in one of her ads that she would work with Dianne Feinstein, and even vote against her own party.  I told him that I could not agree with his position.

There have been and always will be times when politicians vote against their own party.  Working together for the good of this nation and We the People is what our elected officials are supposed to do.  So, it seems to me, that this man (and his wife) are not going to vote for someone because she said that she might do something she should be doing.

But there's a bigger question.  If you've ever had an argument with a loved one, then you know that there are people in your life that you are not always going to agree with.  Why should that be any different when it comes to politicians.

Right now in California, some Republicans are having a hard time accepting Meg Whitman.  They say they can't vote for Brown, but aren't quite sure if they can vote for Whitman.  In my opinion, this is a no-brainer.

Jerry Brown is a democrat.  What's the one thing democrats are really good at?  Raising taxes.  What could possibly be worse than a democrat governor?  A democrat governor, a democrat-majority legislature and Proposition 25, which would amend our state Constitution to provide that a budget could be passed with a simple majority, rather than the 2/3 super majority now required.  Do you really think that a democrat-controlled legislature would hesitate to raise taxes to close any budget gaps and then send it off to the democrat governor for signature?

Bingo!  Bango!  Bongo!  A budget in record time!

Brown is running ads saying "no new taxes without voter approval".  The operative word being "new."  Saying he isn't going to impose any new taxes without voter approval is not the same thing as saying he's not going to raise the taxes we already have.

Meg Whitman may not be the perfect candidate (who is), but a Republican governor just might be a check on a democrat legislature that's never met a program it wouldn't love to raise taxes to pay for.  Furthermore, she brings with her private sector experience, and she just might appoint people who actually know what it takes to create jobs, something democrats know nothing about.  Don't forget, governors appoint judges.

Same with Carly Fiorina.  She may not be everything we would have hoped for, but she just might be another brick in the dam to hold back the socialist torrent that Obama seems intent on loosing on America.  She, too, would bring private sector experience to a body sorely lacking in it.  Boxer's been slurping and burping at the public trough for so long now that's she lost sight of the fact that the private sector is what makes the public sector possible.

There are no perfect candidates.  Get over it.  When I go to bed on November 2, I want to do so knowing that I have done everything in my power to not put a democrat in a position of power . . . I hope that some of my friends will feel the same way.

Think "My Bonnie"

Obama lies Sunday thru Friday.
Obama lies Saturday too.
Obama is losing his groupies.
O what's a "messiah" to do.

Resign!  Resign!  O go back to Chi-Town we pray.
Resign!  Resign!  And go back to Chi-Town today.

Obama's the reason his party
is having a very bad year.
Despite that he gives pretty speeches
whenever his TOTUS are near.

Resign!  Resign!  O go back to Chi-Town we pray.
Resign!  Resign!  And go back to Chi-Town today.

Obama thought he had a mandate
to change things from A right thru Z.
I guess we'll see come this November
if that's the way things are to be.

Resign!  Resign!  O go back to Chi-Town we pray.
Resign!  Resign!  And go back to Chi-Town today.

Loser of the Week

Where is Eric Holder?

At least two states have refused to send ballots to our troops overseas, which means that the men and women who stand in harm's way so we don't have to are being deprived of their right to vote.  Why?  Because the military vote is overwhelmingly Republican, and that's especially bad this election.

Eric Holder didn't hesitate to drop charges against blacks who intimidated whites.  He was quick to jump on Arizona for having the temerity to defend itself.  Yet, he's nowhere to be seen as states deliberately disenfranchise the military vote.

How Bad Is It?

Just how bad is the electoral environment for democrats?
  • One democrat says that he votes with Republicans most of the time.
  • One democrat has an ad showing a picture of him with George W. Bush.
  • Several democrats say that they won't vote for Pelosi as Speaker if his constituents will just (pretty please) vote for them.
  • One democrat says that he'll vote to reverse Obamacare if his constituents will just (pretty please) vote for him.
  • One democrat is even "joking" that there's nothing to worry about since Pelosi might die.
  • The very alive Pelosi refuses to debate her opponent.  (She has better things to do that see how much she can increase her majority in her district.
  • Democrats are getting Republicans to endorse them in their ads.
  • Jerry Brown is running ads that say all new taxes must be voter-approved.  (Notice he didn't say he wouldn't raise taxes.  He's hoping that voters will be too stupid to know the difference.  A safe bet in California.)
  • Even John Dingell of Michigan, the longest-serving member of Congress, has been reduced to pleading with his constituents to re-elect him.
  • Obama is playing the race card.
  • One 18-term democrat has only 1 donor in his district.
Meanwhile, the passers-out-of-campaign-money have performed a second round of triage, again withholding money from those considered "unsalvageable".
